ABOUT THE TEA
JOURNEY JUICE is our first tea product that aims at true convenience for traditional tea sessions.
It is a raw fermented, or sheng pu'er tea (生普洱) that originates from an ecological tea garden in Bada Mountain (巴达山), Yunnan Province of China. The tea leaves are processed similar to how green teas are usually made, with the difference of leaving room for fermentation over time by performing the so-called "kill-green" production step (or sha qing 杀青) on lower temperatures and shorter time.
The 2020 harvest, loose raw pu'er tea leaves were pressed into 5g ball shapes for an effortless brewing experience, with the leaves slowly opening up with each steeping.
WHEN DO WE DRINK IT?
As a raw pu'er, this tea is lower in caffeine but high in "tea-energy" (or cha qi 茶气).
We usually like to drink it when we have more time to immerse in the experience -- it is the perfect choice for longer, mindful tea sessions when you can sit down with a book or a good movie and let yourself enter the flow. Morning or afternoon tea sessions both work well with it.
- Ceramic gaiwan or clay teapot of 150ml capacity;
- Spring water or purified water at 95°C temperature;
- Gongfu-style brewing using one tea ball;
- Up to 10 infusions at 15 seconds per steep.
